The Seamwork Bobby Dress from Dizzy Quilts

I've been a Seamwork member for a little now but besides the Clarke top which I've done a few times now and the Moji pants I made last year, I hadn't really tried any other pattern.  I've had the Bobby dress on my "to make" list since it came out in April 2019.

I was hoping this would make a really cute summer dress, however my fabric choice wasn't great for really hot weather.

This is Ponte Roma from Minerva Crafts in the "wine" colour. This is a lovely fabric to work with and although ...

A woven Seamwork Clarke from Dizzy Quilts

Ever since I made my first two Seamwork Clarke tank tops, I've been wanting to try one with a woven fabric (you can see my first two here and here). The pattern can be made up in both knits and woven fabrics but to prevent the "tent" look, Seamwork suggests making the top with the woven fabrics cut on the bias.

I had a little over a yard left of a beautiful crinkle rayon after making my Rhapsody blouse a little while ago and decided to try the Clarke using that.

I'd forgotten how shifty this fabric was ...

Allegro Pants - Lessons Learned from Dizzy Quilts

I haven't really ventured much into pants sewing (I only tried one pair and although it was somewhat successful, the fit was far from perfect). Pants are hard to fit due to tummies, bums and thighs, but I really want to nail the fit on some comfy pants - I mean, I'll be working from home for the foreseeable future, might as well have some cute comfy pants!

The Allegro Bottoms pattern by Love Notions was completely re-drafted and was on sale a little while ago. It comes with two lengths for shorts and pants as well as two ...

Vivace Dolman from Dizzy Quilts

With the need to work from home for the past 3 months, it feels as though I'm sitting at my computer for 15 hours every day and I move a lot less than I used to. I'm not blaming anything or anyone other than myself for that - I could go for walks or bike rides during the day. I also should have a lot more time to cook healthy meals now that I don't have to commute back and forth to work, but I have found myself feeling lazy at the end of the day so we ...

My Grey Elliot Tee by Helen's Closet from Dizzy Quilts

One of the very first garments I made for myself was a Helen's Closet pattern - the York Pinafore. You can read all about it here. Since that first pinafore, I purchased many of Helen's patterns. They are extremely well drafted, well written and they are classic, basic pieces we all need in our closets.

In addition to the York Pinafore, I also made a Blackwood Cardigan (blogged here) and a practice Elliot Tee.

A couple of weeks ago, I thought it was time to make my "real" Elliot Tee. I've had 3 yards of a stretchy fabric ...

The Cielo Top - Practice Version from Dizzy Quilts

When I signed-up for Closet Case Patterns' Learn How to Sew Clothing online class, I also got access to three of their latest patterns. I already made the Pietra pants and blogged about them here and now I've made a practice version of the Cielo Top and Dress.

The good:

I really love how easy this top came together and the pattern instructions are simply fabulous. I like the fit at the shoulders and the length is good (I added 3 inches at the shorten/lengthen line).

I also absolutely love the crazy big sleeves!

The bad:

Because this ...
